The Bay Area Biomedical Device Conference (BABMDC) invites undergraduate and graduate students to submit abstracts describing original research, design projects, or translational work in biomedical engineering, medical devices, biotechnology, or related fields.

Submissions should clearly articulate the problem or clinical need, the engineering or scientific approach, and the key outcomes or expected impact of the work. Both completed projects and works-in-progress are welcome.

Accepted abstracts will be presented as in-person posters during the conference. Authors of accepted abstracts are expected to attend the conference and present their work during the assigned poster session.

Abstracts will be reviewed for clarity, technical rigor, relevance to biomedical devices or healthcare applications, and overall quality of communication. Decisions will be communicated through email within a week of submission. A special registration rate of $30 will be applied to the first author should your application be accepted.

Please ensure that your abstract follows the structural guidelines outlined below and is free of identifying information beyond what is requested in this form.

Abstract Guidelines
Abstracts should concisely describe the biomedical problem or clinical need being addressed and explain its significance. Submissions should clearly state the project’s objective or hypothesis, followed by a brief overview of the methods or design approach used (e.g., experimental techniques, device design, modeling, fabrication, or analysis). Authors should summarize key results, performance metrics, validation data, or current progress; works in progress should clearly state expected outcomes. Abstracts should conclude with a statement on the broader impact of the work, including its relevance to biomedical devices, healthcare applications, or translational potential.
