Can teaching be seen as an artistic practice? Can a school be a participatory artistic object? Can one think of a fluid, impermanent method/program?
Provisional school for nothing is an exploratory attempt on (un)learning as an artistic transmission, a collective artistic object unfolding in the natural rural settings of Sabóia—Alentejo with a focus on collaborative experimentation, improvisation and co-creation as knowledge production.
We bring together participants from all artistic fields to engage with a diverse group of provocative guests—musicians, dancers, visual artists, graphic designers, filmmakers, writers, instigators of the unexpected— to explore alternative ways of learning and creating together out in the open, into nomadic classrooms—beaches, countryside, wastelands, barns, ruins, abandoned warehouses, the riverbank.
Students, artists, established and emerging, and all those that question conventional paths of creation are welcome to apply. We aim to dissolve the boundaries between learning, making and listening. Our invited guests will unveil a territory and propose their 'interior school(s)', practice(s). These ideas will be explored through collaborative and performative endeavors.
