OSPOs.
CURIOSS was established in 2023 with the aim of building and sustaining an inclusive community for those working in Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs) in universities and research institutions.
Our current priorities are relationship building, identification of supports and capacity building activities for our members.
Our members are also actively involved in the creation of resources for others working in this space. In order to ensure the sustainable growth of the network, the number of new members we can accept each year is limited.
Who can join CURIOSS?
- Individuals or teams who are actively involved in running an OSPO in a university or research institution.
- Individuals who are funded by their institution to support, manage and sustain open source activities within their university or research institution.
What do you mean by OSPO?
An Open Source Program Office (OSPO) can be defined as ‘an organizational construct that acts as a convener, community steward, and center of competency for open source software'.
Every academic OSPO is different and the nature of their work depends on the cultural context of the institution that they operate in. OSPOs may be situated in different departments. In some cases, an OSPO may be called something slightly different (e.g. Open Program Office). In such cases, eligibility will be judged on the OSPO-like activities carried out there.
