Description:
Anger is an emotion we feel when we believe there is a violation of the way things should be. It is also an emotion of action, and a potent force that reveals desires, incites conflict and brings about change, both on stage and in the world.
In this workshop, we will discuss the interplay of anger, violence and transgression and delve into different exercises that creatively transform these experiences into a performance. We will take time to reflect on the experience of anger and the stories that unfold from it—anger is an indicator emotion that alert us to existing fears, vulnerabilities, and injustices. We will explore the emotional, mental and physical boundaries that exist in a theatrical space, and the possible acts of transgression internally within the performer and externally towards the audience. We will investigate this alongside tools of self-regulation, to deepen the performer’s awareness and dexterity of the performative action. The work will be built on a foundation of rigorous physical practice that aims to hone the body as a membrane capable of complex subtle expression.
