Team members are called to appropriate more deeply Ignatian spirituality in this collaborative ministry. As a community of faith, they are open to growth and willing to work with a diverse group of people. This ministry involves initiative, commitment, and a discerning heart.
Retreat Team member responsibilities may include giving talks, leading small-group faith sharing, and planning prayer services and liturgies. Core Team member responsibilities may include advertising for the retreat, coordinating registration, handling the budget/payments, communicating with the retreat house, researching transportation options, and ordering supplies.
Both teams are expected to prepare for and attend several meetings. The meetings will take place about once a month, although they may become more frequent as the retreat grows closer. Team members will also have opportunities to learn, pray and socialize together prior to the retreat. For the most part, the Retreat Team and the Core Team will meet separately, but there will be communication between the teams throughout, as well as frequent contact and opportunities for feedback via e-mail.
We invite you to prayerfully consider the ways in which God may be calling to contribute to the Charis NYC ministry. Keep in mind that many qualified individuals will apply. The selection committee will often make decisions based on the type of skills and experience currently needed by the committees. If the Charis NYC team is not able to accept your application at this time, we will gladly try to suggest another ministry that may be able to make better use of your time and talents.
Thank you for your interest in joining the Charis NYC team!
