Your child will do her/his homework in a quiet atmosphere. Students can ask the help of a classmate and work collaboratively as long as they do not disrupt the rest of the group. The teachers are available to answer clarification questions and assist students with some explanations. As they are helping several students individually or in small groups, the étude teachers will not teach a lesson if the child does not grasp a concept, but they will let their colleagues know.
Although your child goes to étude, it is important that you check that the homework has been completed. It remains the parents’ responsibility to make sure that your child has completed all of her/his homework during the session. For the upper grades, the hour of étude may not be sufficient to complete all the assignments. It is also essential that you are aware of your child’s homework assignments. Homework is the best vehicle to know what your child does in school on a daily basis and their grasp of the curriculum.
Etude is supervised by a bilingual teacher, an assistant, or a qualified substitute on Wednesdays. We do our best to have étude in the same room for each group. Grade 1 and 2 are together, G3 and 4 and G5 are separate. The étude classrooms are posted at the front desk.
Registration is required at the beginning of the school year via this form open during the entire month of September. You can also enroll after September by sending an email to Lower School Head, Sebastien Robert - email@example.com. If you change your mind and no longer want your child to attend any day of the week, please send Sebastien an email.
The cost for étude is $9.30 per hour. You sign your child out on the iPad in the front desk just as you do for Extended Day. Please note that Etude is included in Extended Day Package A and Package B.
