Prof. Claton’s research straddles psychology and neurobiology, focussing on animal cognition and child cognition during development with a focus on the neurobiology of cognitive development and memory. Her studies on human and animal cognition have revolutionised the field, showing the world that animals possess very similar cognitive capacities to humans.
Together with Clive Wilkins, she founded the Captured Thought, which explore the experience of thought with the aid of evidence from science and the humanities in order to understand how we think about the future and the past.
