Optional Track Competition Wednesday, July 1

Kearney Catholic High School, Kearney, Neb.

Rams are tough, fast and athletic animals, which is the embodiment of track and field. This camp will introduce the training and techniques in the various events, including a particular emphasis on speed and explosion applicable to multiple sports. It will be held at Kearney Catholic’s new, state-of-the-art track complex. We will also discuss nutrition, race preparation, and have fun! The final day is optional. We will hold a fun competition in the evening for everyone to shine. It will be part of a larger running festival with activities, prizes, sponsors and a race for adults called The Eliminator.

This year's theme is "One more," a phrase commonly heard by the athletes of legendary Kearney Coach Roger Mathiesen. He wanted to teach his runners that their mind was telling them they were done but he knew they could do more. He helped them build toughness and confidence. We won't be pushing kids to extremes in the camp, but we want to give them the confidence that as athletes their number one competitor is what is in their own head, and that they can achieve great things.

The general camp is for athletes entering 4th grade - 9th grade

Nebraska Cornhusker, Nebraska high school record holder and NCAA Division I All-American Karsyn Leeling will run a high jump-only session in the evening on Monday that is available for athletes of all ages, including high school.

Athletes may do both the general camp and the high jump session, or they may choose to just do one or the other.

The general camp fee is $60 and includes the high jump session if desired. If an athlete only wants to do the high jump session it is $40.

In the registration section below, athletes can select 1-3 event areas (in addition to HJ) which are of interest to them. We will make every effort to place them in at least one session for each of their interest areas.

We hold the camp in the morning to avoid issues with extreme heat and while we do require a waiver to be signed as part of this registration form please note that we will provide ample access to water and have multiple breaks for students.
