CEC Chapter #0200 Application Deadline: April 15, 2018

The Clarissa Hug Teacher of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding teacher of children with disabilities or gifts and talents. The award honors a CEC member whose work reflects significant educational success for students, continued professional development, and the highest standards of educational quality. The recipient will become the chapter’s nominee for the CEC Clarissa Hug Teacher of the Year Award

Past nominees may be re-nominated. Anyone may nominate one (1) person for the award annually by submitting to the Chapter Vice-President, chairperson of the awards committee. See below for necessary information:

1. The nominee must be currently involved in direct teaching or another service area related to students with exceptionalities.
2. The nominee shall demonstrate exemplary performance over a period of time as a teacher or provider of direct services, exhibiting such qualities as innovation, imagination, creativity, and ability to inspire. Those achievements must be clearly recognized by members of the profession and others knowledgeable of the nominee’s performance.
3. The nominee must be a member of CEC and must have maintained membership for at least the last three years and engage in work consistent with CEC’s mission statement. The nominee shall be appropriately certified as a teacher or related specialist as recognized by state and professional authorities.

1. Complete this nomination form. When all information is completed, please submit this form online by hitting the submit button. You may request to have a copy sent to you before you hit the submit button.
2. Nominee should answer the questions succinctly, 100 words -150 words minimum for each question.
3. Two to three letters or testimonials from colleagues, supervisors, education professionals, students, or parents documenting the nominee’s efforts and/or abilities in the areas of: innovation, evidence of student progress, collaboration, leadership, or mentoring.

2. Nominee must be a member of Chapter #0200 to qualify for state nomination of the Clarissa Hug Award.

Only nominees meeting the above criteria will be considered for the 2018 Palm Beach County Chapter #200 Teacher of the Year. A committee appointed by the President will review nominee’s credentials anonymously. A finalist will be selected from the eligible nominees and all nominees will be notified of the results by April 25, 2018.
