South Stage Student Assistant Technical Director Application
The Assistant Technical Director is responsible for assisting the Technical Director in their role. Specific duties and tasks will be decided based on the abilities of the assistant and the needs of the show.
A brief description of possible duties are as follows:
Attend all production meetings during J Blocks and take copious notes for the design team as well as stand in for any of the design team that are unable to attend.
Regularly stay after school to help the TD with daily workload and job assignments. Scene shop hours are Monday through Friday 3:30 to 6:00pm.
Meet with the TD on a regular basis to discuss build schedules, load ins and outs, safety protocols, and show budgets.
Help lead teams of students in the safe and timely completion of a multitude of projects such as scenery construction, painting, and installation, as well as light hang and/or sound install and strike.
Help maintain a hardware and lumber inventory while notifying the TD of any purchases that may need to be made to stay on schedule.
Help create and maintain the build schedules and budgets for multiple shows across multiple performance spaces.
Attend ALL tech and dress rehearsals and be ready to fill in for any crew member that is absent, E.G. light board op, sound board op, run crew, dresser, makeup artist, etc... This requires a broad knowledge of theatrical arts but also the willingness to quickly learn anything that you may asked to do, without reservations.
Help keep the scene shop, theatres, booths, and tools, clean and in ready to use condition.
Maintain an atmosphere of welcoming and acceptance.
