Kaki Lima Short Film Competition 2015

A celebration commemorating the inscription of George Town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 7 July 2008, the Heritage Celebrations are a celebration of the living heritage of George Town as demonstrated through its multicultural practices, traditional arts and culture, food and crafts, and through cultural festivities and arts events that highlight history and local cultural pride.

The Heritage Celebrations do not just celebrate cultural heritage. We also spotlight on especially rare or endangered traditions and art forms which remind us what make our heritage so valuable.

Hence, instead of showcasing Penang’s culture and practice in a festival celebration, we decide to capture and celebrate our speciality in a different way.

As a part of our efforts to educate, GTWHI had organized different talks and activities. Kaki Lima Short Film Competition (KLSFC) 2014 was one of the successful projects which manage to draw the attention of young people to contribute through film-making in preserving our heritage.

The outcome of the project was encouraging; therefore we decided to continue these challenges for participants to embrace and discover their homeland more deeply.
