Interest Form - La Posada
St. Teresa of Avila is partnering with La Posada Providencia (lppshelter.org) in San Benito, Texas for our Border Ministry.

La Posada, supported by the Sisters of Divine Providence, provides shelter while immigrants and asylum seekers wait for their cases to be adjudicated before the U.S. Immigration Court and for asylees as they take steps toward achieving permanent resident status.

St. Teresa parishioners are encouraged to volunteer their time and skills and offer their friendship at La Posada as part of our Border Ministry. No experience is necessary. This is an opportunity to live out our faith.

"...I was a stranger and you welcomed me..." (Matthew 25:35)

Logistics
You can fly into Valley International Airport in Harlingen, TX and Sister Zita will pick you up at the airport. From there, you can borrow one of Las Posada's vehicles during your stay to commute back and forth to your lodging.

When considering the duration of your time at La Posada, please keep in mind that a minimum of 3 days during the week is strongly encouraged. The clients have the weekends to themselves, so there are no tasks to be done and only the sisters are around the shelter.

After you submit this form, Nhu Phan will reach out to you to provide more information about logistics. You can also email Nhu at nhu712@icloud.com if you have questions now.

When would you like to go to La Posada? *
You can put down a general month or specific days that you would be available to serve. Weekends are not preferred because there won't be any tasks or errands at the shelter then.

We're starting a fund to help parishioners who have the heart for this ministry but aren't able to fund their travels to La Posada. A donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
