Support the Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy
The Seal of Biliteracy is a national movement where an award is given by a school, district, or state in recognition of students who have attained and proven proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. The Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy is awarded by the Arkansas Foreign Language Teachers Association (AFLTA) and the Arkansas Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ARKTESOL). The goal of the Biliteracy Committee, formed by a partnership of these two organizations, is to have the Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy recognized and endorsed officially through the Arkansas Department of Education. The hope is that ADE will endorse this Seal, use the guidelines formed by the committee, and enable districts to award the seal on transcripts once students have received the award by AFLTA and ARKTESOL.
