Join us for a special evening with Coach Mark Madsen, head coach of the Cal basketball team and former NBA champion. This exclusive event will offer a unique opportunity to meet Coach Madsen, hear about his illustrious NBA career playing with Kobe and Shaq, and support the Cal basketball program.
We will also restart the tradition of the Freshman Sendoff, with students from Korea who have been accepted into UC Berkeley beginning the Fall 2024 semester in attendance. Let's welcome the next generation of the UC Berkeley family and Cal Golden Bears!
About Mark Madsen:
Mark “Mad Dog” Madsen grew up in San Ramon, California, and achieved remarkable success as a two-time All-American college basketball player at Stanford. He was drafted in the first round of the 2000 NBA draft by the LA Lakers, and won NBA championships in 2001 and 2002 with teammates Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. After finishing his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves he became an assistant coach for the LA Lakers and coached Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, LeBron James, and Steve Nash. In 2019 he transitioned to college coaching at Utah Valley University and then was hired as the head coach at the University of California, Berkeley on March 29, 2023 and became the 19th men's basketball head coach in Cal history.

이번 행사에서는 UC 버클리에 2024년 가을 학기에 입학하는 한국 학생들을 위한 '신입생 환송회' 전통도 재개할 예정입니다.
마크 매드슨 소개:
마크 "매드 독" 매드슨은 캘리포니아 주 샌 라몬에서 자랐으며, 스탠포드 대학에서 두 번의 올 아메리칸 농구 선수로서 놀라운 성과를 거두었습니다. 2000년 NBA 드래프트에서 LA 레이커스에 1라운드로 지명되어, 2001년과 2002년에 코비 브라이언트와 샤킬 오닐과 함께 NBA 챔피언십을 차지했습니다. 미네소타 팀버울브스에서 선수 생활을 마친 후, LA 레이커스의 어시스턴트 코치로서 코비 브라이언트, 파우 가솔, 르브론 제임스, 스티브 내시를 지도했습니다. 2019년에는 유타 밸리 대학교의 대학 농구 코치로 활동하다가, 2023년 3월 29일 캘리포니아 대학 버클리의 남자 농구팀 19대 감독으로 임명되었습니다.
