Otselic Valley Parent/Guardian information survey in case of extended school closing
Dear Parents/Guardians:

I am sure everyone has questions and concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the impact it may or may not have on school. The District is continually monitoring the situation and instituting protocols to manage a variety of needs. At this time there are no confirmed cases in our area, but we are doing our best to prepare and plan accordingly.

The most recent guidance from New York State dictates that the Department of Health will alert the school of any confirmed cases in our counties. Upon the first case, we will be required to close school for 24 hours. Additional closing will be at the discretion of the Department of Health.

As you know, Otselic Valley uses School Messenger (robocalls) and social media to communicate on a mass scale for any school emergencies, school-related cancellations, and most recently how the District is responding to the coronavirus. We will continue to disseminate information through these platforms.

Although we are hopeful that we will be able to maintain learning as usual, we are also putting supports in place in the event we need to close school for an extended period of time. The District is making preparations to address student learning needs in case of an extended closure.

Students or staff with symptoms and/or a fever will be asked to leave school until symptoms have been cleared for 24 hours. If you have been in contact with a person positively identified with COVID-19, you should self-quarantine and contact the county health department. Please do not come to school if you are ill.

In order to make sure we have as many resources as possible in place for families in the event of an extended closure, PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM BY MONDAY, MARCH 16. Alternatively, please fill out the paper form sent home with every student on Friday, March 13, and return it on Monday.

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter.
