Second Saturday Vendor Application
First, we'd like to say thank you for sticking with us during this turbulent summer. We appreciate your patience as our Planning Committee has navigated ways to slow the spread of Covid-19. Because of current mandates, guidelines, and cooperative conversations with leadership at City Hall, we have decided to cancel this summer's Second Saturdays | Arts in the Alley community festivals. We are just as saddened to announce this as we are sure you are to learn of this news.
But here's some good news! While we have decided that the 2020 Second Saturday Arts in the Alley is a little too risky in its traditional form, the Planning Committee is working closely with the City on a partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department. This project will commission artists to place art throughout our community. Stay tuned for how you can be a part of these commissions!
As the Board of Directors for the Gahanna Area Arts Council continues to work on the next opportunity for you and your work to be featured and sold, we are committed to honoring the festival by hosting events that are safe and fun! For example, we have begun to feature artists in our gallery again with limited gallery hours and private showings. We're also experimenting with an "Inside/Out" viewing experience where visitors can view and purchase art without entering the gallery space. This can be done anytime during the week from our four front windows at 116 Mill Street. Additionally, we are looking into the possibility of a backyard concert series to highlight local musicians.
While we were really looking forward to getting our community together again at our festivals, we are now looking forward to planning next year's events! Between now and then, let's collaborate. Share your feedback on what we should be considering for next year –– even this year's non-traditional festival events.
We will continue to keep you in the communication loop. Until then, stay healthy and safe!
On behalf of the Board of Directors and Second Saturday Planning Committee,
