Senior Capstone Agreement Form
GUIDELINES FOR THE SENIOR CAPSTONE

Majors in the Scandinavian languages and in Scandinavian Area Studies are expected to complete a senior capstone as part of their program of studies. The senior capstone is intended to offer the student an opportunity to pursue some aspect of their studies in the Scandinavian languages, literature, or area studies in greater depth.

Traditionally, the capstone has taken the form of a research or critical paper of approximately 25 pages in length. This is still a great option for students, but students are also welcome to propose alternative ideas such as creating a multi-media piece, managing a project, or completing an internship. We want the capstone to be in line with your future career/academic goals and interests.

Students should register for SCAND 498 (5 credits) during the quarter in which he or she intends to complete his or her senior capstone. Registration requires permission of the instructor who will supervise the capstone credits. In order to register for SCAND 498, students must get the instructor’s faculty code number from the staff in the department’s main office.
