Hey there! We are VCIL — the Vermont Center for Independent Living.

We are people with disabilities working together for our rights.

We are excited to invite you to join our 10-week paid internship and get to know you!

Who Can Join?

  • Live in Vermont
  • Be a student in grades 7-12
  • Be an enrolled P2P student (if you are not yet enrolled, we can help you to enroll!)
  • Have access to the internet and a computer or tablet

We have 20 spaces available for this semester, and they are first come, first served.

When?

October 15 – December 17, 2025

We will meet on Zoom every Wednesday, 7–8pm in a safe space of peers.

Between meetings, you’ll do a small task that you select (an hour or less).

Tasks might include:

  • Reading or listening to a short story
  • Writing, recording, or drawing your thoughts
  • Recording your ideas
  • Learning about current events

Pay:

$600 upon program completion.

What Will We Do?

This internship is all about finding your people, your power, and your story.

We will explore:

You can take part in ways that work best for you: reading, listening, writing, chatting, drawing, or speaking up in discussions.

At the end, you’ll be invited to share your story with StoryCorps in the format that works best for you (totally optional).
