Class: Ballet by Dario Tortorelli

In my work and in life, I’m always looking for balance between the physical and the intangible. Through the basic structure of a ballet class—spatial awareness and musicality—I invite dancers to find harmony with their bodies in motion.

About Dario Tortorelli

Born in Italy in 1977, Dario Tortorelli is a dancer, maker, and teacher based in the Netherlands.
After training in classical and contemporary dance, he began his career in France with Jeune Ballet de Cannes and Ballet de Nice. Since 2001 he has lived in the Netherlands, performing with Introdans, Conny Janssen Danst, and WArd/waRD – Ann Van den Broek, among others.
Alongside developing his artistic work, Dario teaches, coaches, and choreographs for Dutch dance academies (Codarts, ArtEZ, AHK, Fontys) and gives classes internationally as a guest teacher with major companies including Conny Janssen Danst, Scapino Ballet, Introdans, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Tanz Mainz and Skånes Dansteater.
Most recently, he has been working as coordinator of the Dance Artist bachelor program at ArtEZ, continuing to share his knowledge in the dance field and supporting the growth of young dance artists. In addition to dance, he has also expanded his artistic practice into other fields, finding new ways of creating through botany and ceramic art.
