While many of us may have shared experiences, no two narratives are the same. Our intersectional identities—gender, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and more—reflect different privileges and oppressions even within the Asian American community. Only when we piece together the puzzles of different narratives can we begin to understand and relate to the spectrum of stories and shared struggles of all people in our communities and other communities of color. Like a kaleidoscope that is always turning to transform the image inside, our communities are dynamic and ever-changing. We hope this year’s TAASCON inspires participants to be a part of that change in recognizing the complexity of identity and envisioning a more equitable world.
Fragments: of histories we reflect and embodySpectrums: of communities we construct and cultivate Visions: of futures we hope to see and uplift
