The Indiana CTSI/NSF Midwest I-Corps Introduction to Customer Discovery is a medical and health care focused program to help participating researchers and clinicians discover the commercial potential of their innovations. The program is based on the national NSF I-Corps Program, which has enabled over 1000 teams, from universities across the United States, move their ideas to impact.

Three roles comprise the teams for Introduction to Customer Discovery (ICD):
 
1. Technical Lead (TL)
Faculty or grad student researcher who has obtained or worked under the initial grant or other support that enabled the technology to advance.

2. Entrepreneurial Lead (EL)
A grad student or post-doc with relevant knowledge of the technology and a deep commitment to investigate the commercial landscape surrounding the innovation.

3. Industry Mentor (IM) – Optional, but strongly encouraged
An experienced entrepreneur with startup or other
experience in transitioning technology out of the lab and into the marketplace.
