Know Your IX Regional Training Application -- fall 2015
This fall, Know Your IX is excited to launch two 2-day regional bootcamps for student organizers, to provide the intensive in-person skills and support all of us need to make change on our campuses and in our communities!
WHAT: The bootcamps will include skill-sharing workshops on everything from talking to the media and planning direct actions to navigating state-level advocacy and building intersectional coalitions. Workshops will create space for all of us to dialogue around challenges specific to our geographic regions, whether they be immigration laws that discourage undocumented students from reporting or state-level mandatory referral bills that force survivors to go to the police. The training will also include spaces to connect with student activists on other campuses and build relationships and friendships with other organizers who live near us.
WHO: The first two trainings this fall will be for students at schools in the Northeast (hosted in NYC) and Midwest (hosted in St. Louis).
--If you're a current undergraduate student from or attending school in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, or Washington D.C., come attend our Northeast training!
--If you're a student from or attending school in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota,Ohio, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wisconsin, we hope to see you at our Midwest training!
--If you're from a state we haven't listed here, we will be coming your way in the spring -- we promise!
WHEN: The Midwest training will kick off Saturday, November 14th and wrap up by noon on Sunday, November 15th. The Northeast training will be Saturday, November 21st through noon on Sunday, November 22nd.
Apply today! If you are a college student in one of the above states, please apply here. We'll have rolling applications up until Saturday, October -- and the sooner we hear from you, the more time we have to tailor the workshops to your needs! It’s important to us that costs not be a barrier -- we'll work with each of you to provide travel stipends and housing arrangements.
After a weekend of learning and organizing, we're hoping we’ll all leave with new skills, new energy, and a new community of coordinated organizers.
