Collective Bargaining Priorities Survey
TAUMUN is soon entering negotiations for your new Collective Agreement with the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. The current Collective Agreement expires on August 31, 2026. The contract negotiations are your opportunity to fight for important improvements for our collective future.

The aim of this survey is to gauge the views and opinions of all members of TAUMUN in anticipation of the upcoming negotiations. We want to establish what the necessities and priorities are for our members, such that we have a strong vision for the future, going into the collective bargaining procedure.

Your voice is important: United We Bargain, Divided We Beg!

In Solidarity,
TAUMUN Collective Bargaining Committee

Employee (Dis)Satisfaction
This section is optional, but will ask about your experiences as a student and employee. TA/RA/GA positions are a core part of many students' funding opportunities, and it is important that those opportunities remain. This section will consider work/life balance, living expenses, need for more/less hours, etc.

The more information that we can gather on student experiences, the better we are positioned to negotiate with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.
How are you impacted by (the lack of) funding at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador? Do you have to supplement your income by taking on extra work outside of your department? (I.e., more than 10 hr a week)
Clear selection
What would a living wage and improvements to your working conditions mean to you and/or your dependents?
What would you like to see improved in your workplace? Feel free to talk about as many issues as you like but please be specific.
Have you been forced to spend your own money, so you were able to do your job (training, supplies, computer software, travel, etc.)? If yes, how much did you spend and what did you spend it on?
In the past year, have you worked remotely? If yes, did you receive adequate support to carry out your duties?
Record of Hours
If you were contracted as a TA/RA/GA at any time during the last two academic calender years, please share the hours alloted in your contract as well as the actual hours worked. This will help us assess whether employed graduate students worked hours that were beyond their contracted hours. Always record the time spent on TA/RA/GA duties; our goal is to ensure that graduate student workers are always compensated for their labour.

Formatting Example:
(Contracted Hours, Actual Hours Worked)
(e.g. 60 Contracted, 56 Worked) OR (e.g. 60 Contracted, 87 Worked)

If not contracted: (N/A)
How many hours did you work Winter 2026?
How many hours did you work Fall 2025?
How many hours did you work Spring 2025?
