T.G.I.T/F 2014 !
Calling ALL STUDENTS in MISSOURI!!! Sign up to guarantee your spot! (ATTENTION: The deadline for free buses has passed).
What is T.G.I.T/F ?!?!
THANK GOODNESS IT'S TRUE/FALSE is a new program for ALL STUDENTS STATEWIDE! We invite you to try a taste of the fest on us! The day starts with a free film and refreshments at the Missouri Theater, followed by art, music, and film workshops and events, and is topped off by a raucous downtown parade. All free. All just for you. The Friday of the festival (February 28) is a Columbia Public High School teacher work day and students have the day off, so we've created a Friday full of FREE FUN for ALL STUDENTS! We are even providing free bus transportation for all local CPS high schoolers. We also welcome ALL OTHER STUDENTS from high schools and colleges in our fair state. Grab your student ID and come on down! (Signing up is optional, but guarantees your spot). 10AM: Doors open at the Missouri Theater. Come early for coffee, snacks, and live music. The screening starts at 11am ("PARTICLE FEVER") and will be followed by a conversation with our special guests: Mark Levinson, the film's director, and David Kaplan, scientist and star of the film! (More info on website). Then, all afternoon (1 - 5pm), we have FREE ART, MUSIC, AND FILM EVENTS just for students: workshops with local and visiting artists (make costumes and puppets for the parade, get a special public art tour, and meet with internationally acclaimed artists), meet and hear local and national musicians, and talk with filmmakers from around the world. The day will end with the always fabulous March March PARADE from 5-6PM. We have only limited spots in our afternoon workshops and need to plan those according to who signs up. So sign up, ya’ll! If you are a CPS high school student and want a FREE BUS RIDE from your home in Columbia to downtown and back, you MUST fill out this form by FEBRUARY 25th. You must also bring a signed parental permission slip to your high school office (get the permission slip at your high school’s main office or download it at
). We cannot provide transportation for non-CPS students, but we will show you a great time once you get here! Consider carpooling or finding someone at your school to help you organize and fund a field trip! If you are a teacher who is bringing your students and would like attend, please email
to reserve your spot.
