We are thrilled you can join us for our 4th annual Officer Friendly Day - a family friendly event where individuals and their families can engage with police officers and see how their vehicles work. Opportunities for adults and children to speak with law enforcement officers are encouraged.
The event is from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2025
Location: UM-Flint William S. White Parking Lot S at the corner Saginaw St. and 5th Ave (across the street from the Family Dollar at 877 E. 5th Ave)
Free food (pizza, including gluten-free options) and activities (e.g., building blocks, chalk, yard games, story time with a police officer and more) will be provided. Story time with a police officer will be held at 1:30pm, 2:00pm, and 2:30pm. This year we will also have virtual reality, where community members can practice interacting with law enforcement in a virtual world.
We have a video to help guide what to expect at Officer Friendly Day
here. We also have a social story
here.
- We will offer simulated traffic stops. If you drive, you can have the opportunity to practice what it might be like to be pulled over in your vehicle by an officer. The officer will walk through the conversation and movements that might be part of being pulled over. To learn more about what to expect when you get pulled over, click on our Simulated Pull Over video.
- If you would prefer to read a social story about what to expect when you get pulled over, click here.
- If you have a child on the spectrum and would like them to experience being a passenger during a routine traffic stop, you can also participate in the simulated traffic stop.
- To learn more about what to do as a passenger during a routine traffic stop, click on our Simulated Pull Over Autistic Passenger video. If you would prefer to read a social story, click here.
