About CTC:
Communities That Care (CTC) is a prevention strategy used by community boards across the United States. Led by community members, CTC seeks to generate local solutions that are grounded in science and evidence-based practices. CTC believes that when community members are involved in addressing challenges in their community, they are invested in the process and outcome because they own the decisions. One of the key elements of Lafayette CTC is that it is “community owned and operated.” No one person or organization is the sole advocate for the work, but instead CTC stakeholders work together to identify and support champions throughout the community who collectively sustain the process with the support of Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) as the backbone organization. The CTC model is a perfect fit for Lafayette because as a small, connected community, its residents have historically been engaged.

About Lafayette CTC:
Lafayette CTC is led by a Community Board composed of Lafayette residents and other key stakeholders of all ages and backgrounds. Committed to equitable access to quality education, health, and community resources for Lafayette youth, Lafayette CTC is administered by BBCPHand supported by community partners to develop the capacity needed to ensure Lafayette youth thrive.  The following strategy teams have been formed to oversee this work:

The Mental Health strategy team seeks to address disparities in access to mental health resources and stigma. Particular emphasis is on youth-led educational opportunities for parents and other community members.
The Restorative Justice strategy team seeks to extend restorative justice programming and restorative practices to the Lafayette community.
The Economic Justice strategy team advocates for increased awareness about existing programs, through various methods including “Lafayette Any Door” recommendation to include more diverse residents. Economic Justice works to break down existing barriers to transportation, cost, and language for engagement from all people of Lafayette to access programs that address our priority risk and protective factors.
The Policy Making strategy team analyzes laws and policies that may be considered unfavorable toward youth, making adaptations to make Lafayette a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming place. The Policy team works closely with Lafayette City Council.
