OpenDoors Chess Tournament Sign Up
Many of our clients seriously play chess in prison and then continue competing after their release. On June 1st at 10:00 AM, OpenDoors will host its first chess tournament and fundraiser to highlight our clients who love to play and our work helping the formerly incarcerated community.
Time Control: G/30, d5
These will be timed games, 30 minutes maximum per side, with a 5 second time delay. This is an adults only tournament, all players must be 18 years or older. This is not a scholastic chess tournament.
If you are interested in competing, please fill out this form and identify how much money you can pledge to donate. Participants are encouraged to pay $100. However, if that poses a burden, please pledge what you can, and OpenDoors will raise the difference.
Payments can be made online here:
. Payment will be accepted at the door, however, enrollment will close on May 25th. Check, cash, and credit card are all acceptable forms of payment.
We encourage you to ask family and friends to help you enter! You can find a pledge form here: file:///Users/Staff/Downloads/Pledge%20Ask%20Sheet%20(1).pdf
Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners, depending on the amount of money raised. All other proceeds will help fund the services OpenDoors provides to formerly incarcerated individuals.
USCF Membership is not required. The Open section may be combined with the Intermediate section if there are not enough participants, in which case the Open Section may be unrated. Prizes will be given out for both sections.
