"Research Pods" were created with the goal of sparking creative, cross-disciplinary, and cross-campus collaborations. Pods are given nominal funds to informally gather to explore a topic or collaboration about environmental issues in East and/or Southeast Asia. Funds may go towards lunch, coffee, books, reading group meetings, and/or group field trips, etc. Each Pod should ideally have 4 faculty/staff members from different campuses and different disciplines. We ask that 1 member of the Pod serve as the primary contact. Funding is available for up to $500 per pod and must to be used by July 31, 2018.
In Spring 2018, EnviroLab Asia will have a call for applications for faculty/staff ‘Research Labs” that offer $25,000 in funding per Lab for research activities to take place during the 2018-2019 academic year. We hope Research Pods would be a good way to start towards a Research Lab application. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, and strongly encourage applicants from the Sciences and/or non-Asian Studies backgrounds to be part of the Pods.
The application is due January 19, 2018.
After completion of activities, Research Pods will be asked to write a 1-page summary of activities and outcomes, and to participate in assessment activities, and other reporting to the Henry Luce Foundation.
