Kensington Voice's Youth Voices after-school program is open to children and youth in grades 6 through 12 on Monday through Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. All students under the age of 18 must obtain permission from a parent or guardian to participate in after-school workshops and drop-in activities.

Our office is located at 3237 Amber St, on the 3rd floor south.

The Youth Voices Afterschool Program will include workshops on Creative writing, Journalism, Poetry/spoken word, and Visual storytelling. Some of the examples of workshops we will be offering this year are:

Creative Writing Corner - Mondays

The Creative Writing Corner is a group-based workshop dedicated to developing each participant's creative writing skills by setting time-based goals that will culminate in a published piece of content in our book planned to release next Spring.

Podcasting Programing - Wednesdays & Thursdays from September 4th to September 30th

Our podcast programming will engage youth participants by teaching them all of the elements that go into creating audio and prepare them to tell stories about their experiences. The program will culminate in a panel discussion and networking mixer on September 30th, which is International Podcasting Day.

Participants must have media release permission from a parent or guardian.

Programming will include special workshops that will feature guests with expertise within that specific workshop (Photography, Screen printing, storytelling, etc), as well as field trips to local libraries and other areas in the neighborhood. In order for this youth participate in these events, consent from a parent or legal guardian would be required.
