As your elected official (and in partnership with the East Bay Stonewall Democratic Club), I pledge to champion the rights and well-being of the transgender and broader LGBTQ+ community. In the face of anti-LGBTQ+ hate and discrimination from the Trump administration, I will fight for:
- Access to Gender-Affirming Care: Ensuring that all transgender individuals have access to the healthcare they need to live authentically.
- LGBTQ+ Inclusive Education: Supporting comprehensive sex education and LGBTQ+ history in our schools to foster understanding, acceptance, and respect.
- Protection of Trans Youth: Safeguarding transgender youth from discrimination, bullying, and violence, both within and outside of schools. Including safeguarding the rights of trans students to play in sports activities that align with their gender identity.
- Sanctuary for LGBTQ+ Immigrants: Providing a safe haven for LGBTQ+ immigrants seeking asylum and opportunity and protecting our current immigrants from hate-based deportation.
- Ensuring Protection from Violence in Government Facilities: Work to make sure transgender individuals are protected from violence in jails, prisons and other government facilities.
I am committed to making Alameda County a place where transgender individuals can thrive, free from fear and discrimination. We will take bold action to create a truly inclusive and equitable community for all.
