The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association asks for business and community members' consultation regarding the extended patio continuance.
The City of Kamloops and KCBIA aided restaurants affected by the COVID-19 pandemic through the extended patio program. In 2021, City Council approved funding for the extension of patios to accommodate patrons dining outdoors. There were 21 applications, and the sidewalks were extended almost immediately so businesses could expand their patios.
As of Fall 2022, the COVID-19 contingency funding is no longer available, and the City has scheduled removal of the patios for this October.
To continue the extended patios into 2023, participating restaurants and pubs would incur all costs including licensing, engineering and installation, inspection as well as removal each fall. As a downtown patron, please share your valuable thoughts regarding the future of extended patios.
We'd like to hear from you if
- You use the patio;
- You reside in close proximity to a patio;
- You're a customer at a restaurant with a patio;
- You own a patio and run a business.
- You're a company owner who wants to install a patio;
- You own a business that is close to a patio.
The survey will be closed on July 1, 2022.
