Professional Development-PD, in Mckenzie County School District

Mckenzie County educators are dedicated professionals committed to high levels of student achievement. Their continuous growth and development as educators are critical to their ability to teach students effectively. Dedicating time on a monthly basis to meet for professional development (PD) will provide a framework to engage in collaborative activities that will directly impact student learning. Teachers, administrators, and other school system employees need time to work in study groups, conduct action research, participate in seminars, coach one another, plan lessons together, and meet for other purposes. Because of the tremendous growth, our district is in a unique position of having to hire new staff regularly. With only one day given for professional development at the beginning of the year, we feel the staff needs more dedicated time for professional development throughout the school year on a monthly basis.

The district is presently working on an application that will be submitted to the state regarding the following questions on professional development time. Please take a moment to look at the questions and provide valuable feedback. This would result in either a late start, or early finish once monthly---option 1 or option 2, both of which are describe in the survey below.
