As coastal states from Maryland to Massachusetts are moving quickly to grab a share of the wind energy from permitted areas in federal waters along the eastern seaboard, Connecticut issued a request for proposals in January and plans to sign contracts for up to 240 MW of offshore wind energy during the summer of 2018. New London's port is well-positioned to become a hub of economic activity serving this emerging industry.
