Admissions Support
This committee works closely with the Admissions Office during admissions related events by providing refreshments and serving as hostesses for the prospective student ‘Open House’ (December), preparing snack packs for applicants taking the ‘Entrance Exam’ (January), and assisting with decorations for the ‘Accepted Students Welcome’ event (March).
Amigas acts as a resource and connection point for Hispanic moms, keeping them up to date with current events and coordinating volunteer opportunities. (Comite que agrupa a las mamas Latinas.)
Baccalaureate Reception (May)
This committee of non-senior level mothers, arranges a reception following the Baccalaureate Mass held on the Saturday night before graduation.
Blood Drive (April)
This committee arranges for volunteers to staff the spring Blood Drive.
Board Meeting Hospitality
This committee provides a light lunch for the Mothers' Club meetings. The chairs also coordinate the Christmas luncheon held in the Jesuit residence.
Care Team
This committee offers assistance to members of the Strake Jesuit community in times of need through (1) Support Volunteers who provide support to families through meals, transportation, and other types of care during difficult times, or (2) Knitting Volunteers who minister to those in need by knitting Prayer Shawls and Prayer Blankets.
Christmas Tree Trimming (November)
This committee is in charge of the Mothers' Club Christmas tree, including hosting an evening reception to decorate the tree and maintaining the decorations.
College Night (October)
This committee works with the counselors’ office and Houston-area Catholic high schools to provide dinner and serve as hostesses for the college representatives participating in the fall Catholic High School College Night.
Counselors' Office Support
This committee works with the counseling staff on an ongoing basis to organize reference materials from colleges and universities. They also help with special projects as requested by the College Guidance and Admissions offices.
Faculty and Staff Appreciation
This committee coordinates four lunches, each hosted by the mothers of one grade, for faculty and staff during the year. If you sign up to help with lunches, you will be contacted to help with the lunch hosted by your son's grade level. The group also coordinates a dinner in May for the faculty, staff and their guests at the end of the school year.
Follow Your Son's Schedule (August)
This committee coordinates and serves refreshments for the first parent meeting of the school year during which parents meet with administration and faculty, and visit their son's classrooms.
Golf Scramble Support (June)
This committee works closely with Development to arrange staffing of volunteers for the annual Golf Scramble.
Homecoming (October)
This committee assists the Student Council and Dean of Students in arranging all activities for half-time at the Homecoming game, including the coronation of the Homecoming Queen and her Court. They also provide the decorations for the Homecoming Dance the following evening.
Junior Cross and Ring (May)
This committee, comprised of non-junior level mothers, helps the Principal with the Junior Cross and Ring ceremony by providing the boxes for the crosses, writing students names on the back of the crosses, placing the crosses and senior rings in the boxes, and coordinating the reception after the ceremony.
Library Support
This committee assists with regular volunteers in the school library.
Liturgy Support
This committee works with the Pastoral Ministries Office to coordinate parents' assistance for school liturgies. Assistance may include art and environment, arranging for the flowers, altar cloths, and vestment care and maintenance.
Mothers' Club Lenten Retreat
This committee selects the location, coordinates speaker/moderators, and acts as hostesses for the annual Lenten Retreat.
Mothers' Club Weekend RLC Retreat
This committee organizes a weekend retreat for mothers at the Retreat and Leadership Center. The committee determines the theme and format of the retreat, speakers, and logistics.
Mothers for Others Luncheon (May)
This committee assists the Mothers' Club Vice President (who serves as chair) with invitations, reservations, registration and decorations for the annual May Mothers for Others Luncheon.
Mother-Son Luncheon (October)
This committee plans the Mother-Son Luncheon in October, including selecting a speaker, securing a location, coordinating the menu decorations, reservations and table assignments.
Museum Committee
This committee works with the Art Museum Curator in educating the school community on the art exhibited on campus and the cataloging and maintenance of museum art. This committee also hosts the CrusaderArts Festival. Committee members may be trained as docents and conduct tours.
NOVA Club is a resource and support group for African-American families which helps facilitate several events during the school year.
Parent-Teacher Meetings
This committee provides dinner for the faculty & staff and refreshments for parents at the four Parent Teacher Meetings held once each quarter.
Prom (May)
This committee assists the Student Council and school with the Junior-Senior Prom held in the late spring.
Special Events Receptions
This committee is responsible for providing refreshments and baked goods and assisting with special receptions, as needed.
Special Projects
This committee prepares large-scale mailings for postage or distribution, stuffing or assembling packets for luncheon invitations, auction, the counselors’ office, the athletic department, and Mothers’ Club mailings. This committee handles the postage of any large-scale mailing sent by Mothers’ Club and may assist with postage on other school mailings.
Spirit Store
Committee members help in the Spirit Store as needed, such as with shelving stock, assisting with filling web orders, and selling merchandise in the store and at special events.
Student Dance Chaperones
This committee provides chaperones for the school dances including Orientation, Homecoming and the Junior-Senior Prom.
Student Retreat Support
This committee works with the Liturgy and Retreat Coordinator of the Strake Jesuit Pastoral Ministries Office to coordinate parents' assistance with student retreats. Assistance may include transportation, food preparation, arts and crafts planning and any other logistical concerns.
Freshman Retreat Driver
This is a great opportunity for ANY school parents who would like to help with driving freshmen during the Freshmen Retreat in November. Parents who will have freshmen in the fall - this is a wonderful opportunity to get involved. Spring Fling
This committee is in charge of coordinating a one-day festival event held in March. The committee coordinates all aspects associated with running a carnival including food, games for all ages, and entertainment. All proceeds go to support the Strake Financial Aid Program.
Raffle Collections for Spring Fling
This committee is responsible for the Spring Fling Raffle, including soliciting prizes, printing tickets, organizing and distributing tickets and coordinating volunteers for raffle ticket turn-in days. Parents who sign up will be contacted to help with collections for their son(s)' grade level(s).
Welcome Brunch (August 2018)
This committee plans and hosts a brunch at the beginning of the school year, providing refreshments, coordinating invitations, room set-up and other details.
