Keep Plymouth Leafy (KPL) is a non-profit organization committed to positively enhancing the leafy, tree-lined character of Plymouth, Michigan's streets and parks.
City of Plymouth residential property owners are eligible to receive a free street tree from KPL (supplies limited based on available funding). Recipients selected on a first-come, first-serve basis and non-recipients will be placed on a waiting list rolling over to next year.
Past recipients ARE eligible. For questions, contact
KeepPlymouthLeafy@gmail.com.
Your tree will be installed by City of Plymouth Department of Municipal Services according to their crew's availability in the coming months beginning in May. DMS has a small crew, and we have lots of trees to dig and plant, so we appreciate your patience!
Before installation, DMS officials will place a stake in the location where the tree will be planted. Please contact DMS immediately if you are not happy with its placement as trees cannot be moved once they are planted. Your tree, planted in the public right of way between the street and the sidewalk, will be a large, deciduous shade tree approximately 2.5" in diameter when planted. They are beautiful, healthy trees!
As recipient of a KPL Free Street Tree, you agree to water in the new tree until the ground freezes this year in order to ensure the new planting takes. Your new tree may need some water next Spring as well, and neither KPL nor City of Plymouth DMS can be responsible for replacing dead trees. Showing your new tree just a little love and attention now will ensure it will grow independently, healthy and happy, for years to come!
To accept your Free Street Tree from KPL, please sign the form below (DMS will attempt to get you your tree type choice subject to availability and suitability).
P.S. THANK YOU to our generous KPL funders, including The Margaret Dunning Foundation, Wilcox Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Plymouth, Michigan DNR, ReLeaf Michigan, Wade Trim, Bosch Community Fund, and individual donors like you!
