the greater Super Mario universe has a huge cast of characters! but which ones are the main characters? here I have every character on the Super Mario Wiki's list of playable characters (as of June 4th 2024) as well as a handful of others, and I want you to rank as many of them as you feel like ranking on a seven-point scale for how much of a "main character" you think they are.

the question is not "how much do you like this character?" or "is this character a protagonist in some game?"; the question is "is this a main character of the greater Mario ensemble?".

feel free to skip any questions where you don't have a strong opinion, or where you just don't feel like answering. (but note that "I, a casual Mario enjoyer, have not heard of this character before" is a perfectly valid reason to say someone is "not a main character".)

I'd also prefer if you don't take the survey more than once, but I also don't want to make people sign in to take this survey so I have no way of stopping you from doing so. have fun!
