Nature's Scorecard: Advocate for Stormwater Controls In Your Community!
Do you care about orcas, salmon, and clean water? Do you envision a Puget Sound region that prevents pollution and manages stormwater to protect our environment and our communities? Join us: take action to help turn the tide on toxic stormwater pollution!
Fill out the form below to tell your local elected officials—including your council members, and mayor or executive—that our communities require funding to protect clean water.
Stormwater retrofit projects are planned and executed by local government staff to treat (filter out pollutants) and control (slow the flow of) polluted stormwater runoff from existing development that was built before stormwater controls were required.
These critical projects must go to city and county councils for approval, with input from the city mayor or county executive. These representatives are elected to serve you and your neighbors. Let your representatives know what kind of future you want to see!
Many communities will use 2022 to budget for future capital investments like Low Impact Development (LID) and stormwater retrofits. And soon, in 2023, the state legislature will pass a new budget. Now is a great time to ask your local elected officials to authorize more funding for stormwater projects in your community, and to seek more funding from state and federal leadership.
When you fill out Questions 1–3 below (with Question 4 optional), and click "submit" on this form, you will be signed on to the below comment letter.
We will continue to collect community responses through the fall of 2022, and your letters to your local elected officials during the 2022 and 2023 budgeting processes. Please note that by submitting your information, Puget Soundkeeper Alliance and Washington Environmental Council may contact you to confirm when your letter(s) have been sent to your elected officials.
You have a role to play in shaping the future of your community—take action today! Together we can Save Our Sound.
