Lyndon Outing Club Annual Chili Cook-Off
Rules and Regulations
Homemade Chili Only: Only homemade chili will be accepted.
Ingredient List: An ingredient list must be displayed at the time of the event. Please include any potential allergens (e.g., wheat, nuts, dairy).
One Recipe Per Chef: Only one chili recipe per chef will be accepted.
Quantity: Must prepare 2.5 gallons of chili. (A standard crock pot holds about 1 gallon.) Contestants who do not prepare the required amount will not be eligible for voting.
Name Your Chili: Help your chili stand out by giving it a name. It may give you an advantage in the People's Choice category.
Temperature: Chili must be kept at a minimum temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit for food safety. Bring a device to heat your chili and an extension cord.
Setup Time: Setup begins at 12:30 PM. Contestants must have their table set up by 1:30 PM on the day of the event.
Table Space: Each contestant will be provided with 3’x3’ of table space. All serving pots, garnishes, and decorations must fit within this allotment.
Utensils and Tablecloths: Contestants must bring their own serving utensils and tablecloths. Cups, spoons, and napkins will be provided by event staff.
Scoring: Scoring will be based on five categories: Taste, Aroma, Consistency, Aftertaste, and Originality. Taste points are worth double.
People's Choice Award: All attendees will have one vote for their favorite chili. The contestant with the most votes will win this award.
Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship and common courtesy are expected. All Lyndon Outing Club rules must be followed.
Photo Release: Contestants agree to a photo release by signing below, allowing their photos to be displayed in the newspaper, on the Lyndon Outing Club website, or on social media.
Cleanup: Contestants must clean their space when the competition concludes.
