Young Biodiversity Photographer of the Year Submission Form
General Competition Rules

1. A maximum of 5 photos can be sent per photographer. and all photographs must be taken in the month of May 2019 in Ireland and sent in before 31st May at midnight.

2. The competition is open to amateur photographers worldwide. An amateur is a photographer who makes less than 15% of their annual income, or less than €5,000 p.a. from the practice of photography.

3. The photograph(s) must be consistent with the theme of ‘Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health’’.

We interpret this as relating to:

a. Biodiversity as the foundation for our food and health

b. How biodiversity interacts with the agricultural landscape

c. The physical and mental health values of nature

d. Developing people’s understanding the importance and/or fragility of Biodiversity in the Irish landscape

e. Celebrating Biodiversity in all its forms

4. Employees of the IEN are not eligible to enter.

5. The Judges’ decision is final and binding in all matters and no correspondence will be entered into.

6. By entering the promotion and submitting your photograph, you hereby grant the Irish Environmental Network (IEN) a license to use your photograph.

7. All imagery MUST be the total and exclusive work of the submitting photographer and may not include any element that is the copyright of another.

8. When a photograph is submitted and entry finalised the entry cannot be changed or edited.

9. Photographs to be entered into the ‘Biodiversity Photographer of the Year’ should be NO smaller than 3,600 pixels on the shortest side and the overall size has no upper limit.

10. Images must be in JPEG format and should be 100% quality

11. Photographers may make reasonable use of digital darkroom type techniques which enhance quality but do not distort the photograph. Only minor burning, dodging and/or colour correction is acceptable, as is cropping. High dynamic range images (HDR) and stitched panoramas are NOT acceptable. Any changes to the original Photograph not itemized here are unacceptable and will render the Photograph ineligible for a prize.
