Reef Leadership Workshop:
Orpheus Island Research Station, September 21- 23, 2019 (Optional additional stay until Sep 26)

Monitoring programs vary across the Reef. Many people are familiar with one or two programs but lack knowledge, understanding and opportunities in others. The Reef Leadership Workshop is a capacity building program enabling the participation of marine science experts and citizen science practitioners in multiple monitoring programs in the Great Barrier Reef. The workshop will enhance your ability to participate in citizen science programs including Reef Check Australia, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authorities Eye on the Reef program and the University of Queensland’s Coralwatch program. All this will take place at the beautiful Orpheus Island Research Station on the Great Barrier Reef as part of Reef Ecologic’s Integrated Coral Reef Citizen Science Program, funded by the partnership between the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation. See www.reefecologic.org/project/gbrf-community/ for full details.

Following our three day workshop, there is the option to stay on Orpheus and participate in additional citizen science monitoring on the surrounding reefs. Participants who take this option will not leave Orpheus until the morning of Sept 26. This will be an additional cost of $200 pp which covers accomm, food and dive support for surveys

Applications open until September 15, 2019 or until fully subscribed.

Price $200 (Note this price is heavily subsidised through Reef Ecologic's Integrated Coral Reef Citizen Science Program funded by the partnership between the Australian Government’s Reef Trust and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
