Work Exchange Application - Twin Oaks Communities Conference 2019
It's important to us to make the conference financially accessible to people who are excited to come. While we keep the prices for the conference as low, the money we make just covers our monetary expenses and labor costs at about $8 per hour. Still, we understand that the amount we ask is too high for some. If this is true for you, please fill out the form below.
The work exchange rate is $70. All participants are expected to contribute 2 hours of work during the conference. Our standard work exchange option requires an additional 4 hours (6 total). Other work exchange options may be possible for a further reduction in registration fees on a limited basis.
We will be making determinations about work exchange applications in batches periodically before the conference.
Why do you want to attend the conference and what do you hope to get out of it?
Is there something (a tour, a conversation, ???) that would make your conference experience most useful to you?
What kinds of labor contributions do you feel excited about doing?
Collection of MOOP (Matter Out Of Place) and miscellaneous cleaning
Errand running (must have car and willingness to drive into town or to other Louisa communities)
Medical support and First Aid (must have previous experience)
Registration Table and Signups
Greeting attendees and campsite coordination
Site prep before the conference (Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 28-29th)
Site tear-down after the conference (Monday, Tuesday, maybe even Wednesday Sept. 2-3rd)
Getting up early and making coffee
Can you tell us a bit about your enthusiasm and/or experience with any of the labor areas you selected above?
What days and (approximate) times can you be available for work shifts?
We ask people to work 4 hours in order to take $30 off their admission.
This leaves general admission at $70, but not everyone can afford $70 for a conference, or has the time available to enjoy their conference and work more than 6 hours for it.
How much money is it reasonable for you to pay? Even $15 or $40 helps us keep having this event each year.
