Fifth Grade Center Virtual Academy Application for the 2021-22 School Year
Below you will find information about the Ladue Online Academy (LOA) for the 2021-2022 school year. We have developed this program for FGC students, who have thrived virtually and would like to apply to continue next year. Space is limited and families must complete this application in order to be considered.

In order to staff appropriately and maintain consistency for all Ladue Schools students, those selecting the virtual option must remain virtual for a semester. Students who elect to return mid-year (at semester) may do so with the understanding that their schedule and teachers will change and they will be placed in classrooms where there is space available. A minimum number of students will be required for us to assign a Ladue Schools teacher to a grade level/section in the Ladue Online Academy. If this minimum is not met, students will be placed in Launch, Springfield Public Schools’ virtual program, or another Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP) approved vendor for virtual instruction.

Ladue Online Academy elementary students will:

- Follow a traditional elementary school experience with one grade level teacher for core content and various teachers for electives.
- Have a mixture of synchronous, or live, instruction and small group and independent work time.
- Participate in virtual Art, Music, and PE as part of the program.
- Have access to the same supports and resources as our in-person students. Depending on the number of families interested in the Ladue Online Academy, this could mean attending in-person for certain programs such as SSD-provided classes or Idea Lab.

Students who have not been successful during virtual learning this year may be denied admission to the Ladue Online Academy. When determining whether or not a virtual option is in the educational best interest of your child, please consider the following:

- Ability to organize school workload and manage time well
- Ability to periodically process information independently and/or with peers
- Academic success during the 2020-2021 school year
- Access to consistent and reliable Wi-Fi (with hotspot provided by the school if needed)
- Ability to navigate technology
