Thank you for your interest in Sigma Iota Rho!

There are two kinds of membership - full and adjunct.

In order to qualify for full membership, students must meet the following criteria:
• Have attained a junior standing by the end of Spring 2025 (56 credit hours) and completed at least 21 hours of coursework towards a major/certificate/minor in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, including at least two courses at the 300 or 400 levels;
• Working towards a Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies major, certificate, or minor (for example, International Studies, African/India/Islamic Studies, REEI, CEUS, MELC, etc.);
• Have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, and a GPA of at least 3.4 in Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies courses.

Adjunct membership requirements differ slightly from full membership:
• >3.2 HLS GPA and >3.0 overall
• 30 credit hours i.e. "sophomore standing"
• 12 credit hours towards a major/minor
• Applicant plans on becoming a full member at the next opportunity
• Adjunct members do not pay dues and therefore will not receive induction materials until they become a full member
•Adjunct members cannot hold leadership positions in the organization

Successful full applicants will be asked to pay one-time dues of $75, which will cover fees required by the National Office, the local chapter, and induction materials. You will join a select group committed to the advancing the study of international affairs. Sigma Iota Rho members are people for whom international affairs is of constant interest.
