What is the Science Dome?
The Science Dome is a digital planetarium located on the Pierce College - Fort Steilacoom campus. The Science Dome is open to the public and offers 4-6 public planetarium shows every week, approximately 200 field trips for local K-12 students every year, and 2-4 special events every year. The Science Dome is also used for Pierce College classes and events and available for private groups to rent.
The Science Dome has 58-seats + room in the front to sit on pillows and engage in hands on activities.
The 38-foot dome is the largest planetarium dome in the state!
What is a Science Dome Ambassador?
Science Dome Ambassadors are at the heart of the Science Dome. They:
-Are representatives of Pierce College and the Science Dome to the public
-Create and present planetarium programs in the Science Dome for field trips and public shows
-Operate the Science Dome
-Sell Science Dome tickets
-Give Pierce College campus tours to visiting field trips
-Run hands-on science demonstrations on & off campus for special events
Eligibility - Who should apply?
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in science and education! You do not have to be an expert at any of these things to apply. We are looking for an interest and passion - we will provide extensive on the job training to cover the rest.

Requirements:
- Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA

Preference will be given to:
-Those who can commit to the position until the end of Spring Quarter 2019. There is also a possibility to extend work through the summer of 2019.
-Pierce College Students - While students from any campus or learning modality can apply the position is on the Fort Steilacoom campus

Expectations
-Successfully complete required (paid) training
- Attend twice-weekly meetings
- Be a good representative of Pierce College, the Pierce College mission and the Science Dome
- Fulfill all Science Dome Ambassador job duties

Hours and Pay
- After training has been successfully completed the pay rate is $12.00/hr. Hours range from 5-19 hours per week with an average 10.
- This is a student job and assigned hours work around your class schedule during the week. The specific number of assigned hours varies depending on your availability and the Science Dome's need.
- Ambassadors should be available to work for 3-5 public shows per month. Fridays 6-8:30 pm, Saturdays 11:30-4:30 pm. Other work will be scheduled around the Ambassadors class schedule.
What is needed to complete the application
