As part of Jumpstart's national campaign, Broward will be joining millions of readers across the nation in reading the book Quackers by Liz Wong on October 19, 2017. Even better, Broward County is uniting to make a true impact on early childhood literacy and raise awareness for early childhood education during this record breaking event. Through a partnership between the Children's Services Council, Broward County Public Schools, Broward Early Learning Coalition, the Jim Moran Foundation, United Way, and multiple Broward early childhood stakeholders, a copy of Quackers will be provided to each:
* PreK (age 4-5) child * Kindergarten child
Books will be distributed throughout Broward County (including children at public schools, private schools, charter schools, early childhood community centers, and community events!)
To participate in this amazing opportunity, Community Early Childhood Education Providers and Private Schools must complete and submit the REGISTRATION below by Monday, 10-4-17 (EXTENSION)
By completing this REGISTRATION by Monday, 10-24, you will:
*receive additional communications about this initiative*reserve books for PreK (age four-five going to K next year) and kindergarten children at your school (for pick up at Lauderdale Manors Community Center, See Below) *receive a packet of support resources for the BIG day!*reserve a Spanish copy of the book for your school (will be included in pickup)*submit your interest for hosting guest readers on 10-19-17

NOTE: Please only include books for the PreK (Children going to Kindergarten next year) and Kindergarten children at your school or center. We have a limited amount of books and want to make sure we have enough for every PreK and K child to participate!
Schools will be provided a sign in sheet in the packet with the books to record guest reader attendance and will be asked to submit to Hands On Broward. All participating readers, including community and school guests, classroom teachers, administrators, and additional school personnel who read Quackers to students will be asked to sign in as volunteers in support of Hands On Broward. We want to make sure to capture ALL READERS (including your staff and YOU) in support of the BIG day and Hands on Broward.
NOTE: If you request guest readers PLEASE be prepared to receive them on 10-19-17. Welcome them to your school and make sure to find them a place to read in support of your early literacy goals. Please do not turn away guest readers. Find a place for them to read! :)
