VI International Forum of Young Librarians of the Ukrainian Library Association April 20, 2023.

The Youth Section of the Ukrainian Library Association invites you to take part in the VI International Forum of Young Librarians of the ULA, which will be held online on the Zoom platform.

Forum organizer: Youth Section of the Ukrainian Library Association.

The topic of the Forum: ‘Library: Our Space for Change’

The full-scale invasion to Ukraine by Russian occupation forces has been going on for more than a year. Unfortunately, the invaders have been ruthlessly destroying civilian infrastructure, including our cultural front - libraries. Some of them have been destroyed to the ground, some are beyond reparations, and some have been partially destroyed or heavily damaged.

But we, librarians, like the whole Ukraine, are confidently fighting and defending our book front and continue to work in the libraries that have remained and those that need to be restored. It is the work and development of libraries in the context of military operations that will be the main issue of the Forum.

During the Forum we will talk about:

- library space as a territory of change - services, functions, events and adaptation to new realities during martial law in Ukraine;

- Ukrainian librarians who were forced to go abroad due to the invasion of the occupants and work at libraries abroad;

- what adjustments the Russian-Ukrainian war has made to the work of libraries abroad and whether the temporary residence of Ukrainian citizens has made any impact on their sphere of library activity.

Forum languages: Ukrainian, English.
