Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the SJAC!
As a non-profit community space in Southeast Portland, Oregon, we are deeply committed to supporting grassroots organizing towards community engagement, transformative wellness and social justice.
Central to our mission is a commitment to elevating the leadership of marginalized communities, especially those of color, and honoring the Indigenous sovereignty of the Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla and many other Tribes who have historically made their homes along the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers where we reside.
At SJAC, we strive to create a space that embodies inclusivity and equity, fostering social change through collective action grounded in an ecological framework. Volunteering with us means joining a community where every effort contributes to larger social justice goals.
Our work is organized into four main committees, each with specialized workgroups:
- Facilities Committee: Stewarding functional and welcoming physical spaces.
- Operations Committee: Focusing on the day-to-day operations and oversight.
- Engagement Committee: Connecting our work with the wider community.
- Development Committee: Developing resources and strategy to expand our impact.
In this form you can tell us a little about yourself and let us know which committees most interests you.
