We are truly blessed at St. John’s with loving people, traditional worship and our faithful and impactful ministries that help us to care for each other. We really do live our vision to “Follow Jesus. Be Inspired through Worship. Boldy Loving All” being the Body of Christ in the world. On Sunday August 17th following the 10:00am service, please join us as we kick off our Annual Pledge Drive with a Garden Party in the St. Francis Garden. This is a time in which we can reflect on our lives both personally and as church, knowing that your gifts make what we do as a church possible.
For me, I give thanks to God for my family at St. John’s—for your faithful, loving and steadfast commitment as a caring and accepting community. Your gifts enable our worship services and music, Loving Spoonfuls (meals that provide to those in need), Sunday School for Children and Youth, The Good News Garden, Gun Violence Prevention activities throughout the year, Grand Haven Pride Festival, Environmental Action Team, Immigrant Justice, Misa En El Campo, and more!
On behalf of Stewardship commission, I hope you join me in making a pledge for the 2026 calendar year. By letting the church know your estimated giving, Father Jared and the Vestry can better plan the budget for the coming year. This enables them to make a more accurate plan for our ministry needs and avoid having to make cuts to ministries, services and staff during the year.
You may have also heard about the St. John’s Capital Campaign recently concluded (though some final pledges to that campaign are still coming in). This was a one-time campaign that was vitally needed to address the accessibility of the church. We are a growing parish, and we want to ensure that we welcome everyone, that people can access all parts of our building without barriers. Those Capital Campaign funds, though, do not go towards the annual budget of the parish for our shared ministries. Our annual Stewardship Campaign is needed to ensure the worship, music and wonderful ministries we offer remain vital and inspiring.
As you look over your pledge packet, please see the information about how to become a Sustaining pledger. This means that your pledge will simply renew with each calendar year, and you will not need to bother with returning a pledge card. As with all pledges, you are always in control and can change it or stop it at any time (and you’ll get a reminder each year of your pledge on record so you can adjust it according to your household needs and situation). Please consider choosing this option when you pledge—it saves time for you and creates a steady foundation for ministry here.
To pledge, simply complete the enclosed card, go to http://sjegh.com/pledge, or call Peter Kurdziel in the office at 616-842-6260 . Peter can also be reached by email at pkurdziel@sjegh.com or our bookkeeper, Christine, at bookkeeper@sjegh.com. Your pledge is confidential and kept only to the parish office staff—no one from Stewardship has access to pledge amounts.
On Sunday, September 28th following the late service, we will conclude the pledge drive with our Harvest Festival. Mark your calendar and join us as we worship together and celebrate our blessings as a church. We kindly request your prompt response with the pledge materials. Your Stewardship contact person will stay in touch with you throughout this time.
