The Audre Lorde Project is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit and Trans and Gender Non-Conforming People of Color center for community organizing, focusing on the New York City area. Through mobilization, education and capacity-building, we work for community wellness and progressive social and economic justice. Committed to struggling across differences, we seek to responsibly reflect, represent and serve our various communities.


About the Board of Directors:

The ALP Board of Directors is currently a working board that meets at least once a month. In addition to participating in regular Board meetings, all members of the Board are expected to: participate in at least two committees; be willing to raise funds for the organization; lead at least one major activity or committee; be involved in at least one community-based organization that serves LGBTSTGNC People of Color; and serve on the Board for at least one two-year term.

The ALP Board of Directors is currently accepting applications for openings on the Board. ALP seeks to achieve a diverse Board, including trans and cis women, men, and gender nonconforming people; people who are living with HIV/AIDS; people with disabilities; representatives of varied people of color communities, both US-born and immigrant; of varying ages, including young people under 21; of various class and educational backgrounds; from various NYC boroughs and surrounding areas. We are seeking individuals with a range of skills and experience, particularly those who: have experience with transformative justice human resource practices; finance experience; fund and resource development expertise, or willingness to learn; and/or experience developing community-based programs.
