AAHS Student Driving Permission Form
Students attending the Academy of Allied Health and Science are provided with transportation to and from school. Therefore, student driving is considered a privilege and qualified students who wish to drive will:
(a) supply the appropriate information requested below
(b) agree to abide by the regulations enumerated below and
(c) agree to bring the following documents to the main office:
         1. Copy of driver's license
         2. Copy of vehicle registration
         3. Proof of insurance
         4. $5.00 check made out to “AAHS Student Activities” (no cash please).
Once all items have been verified the student will be issued a parking permit (hang tag).

The safety of students, staff members, school visitors and others while on school grounds is of significant importance.  A student’s use of a vehicle on school grounds has the potential to present a safety hazard for the student operator and to other students, staff members, school visitors and others.   Students in grades eleven and twelve are permitted to drive a vehicle to and from school and park in the area designated for student parking.

Please reinforce with your children that driving to school is a privilege, not a right.  Once granted, the privilege will be revoked from students who fail to comply with school rules, especially those directly related to driving unsafely. Driving and parking infractions, as well as tardiness, or other discipline issues, are cause for driving privileges to be revoked.

When requesting permission for your child to drive to school, please review the student driving regulations listed below with your child, consider the distance that he or she travels to school in the context of their limited experience behind the wheel, and consider having your child take the bus when poor weather is predicted. It is the student/parent’s responsibility to notify their home district if they are not utilizing school-provided transportation. All students who choose to drive do so with the understanding that the home district’s responsibility for transportation may or will be waived.

For students who have obtained a driver’s license, fill this form out completely and drop off a copy of the driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance to the main office along with a $5.00 check made out to "AAHS Student Activities" . For students who will be driving at some point later in the year, please be sure to complete this form after receiving your driver's license.  At that time, you can bring your supporting documentation to the main office before requesting driving privileges.

This form must be completed for each vehicle the student intends to drive to school. One hangtag will be issued to each student.  If driving more than one vehicle, please submit the form separately for each vehicle. If driving more than one vehicle, the student will be responsible for switching the hangtag between vehicles.

AAHS STUDENT DRIVING REGULATIONS:

The next offense may result in a loss of privilege for the remainder of the school year.
3.  Students must comply with all state motor vehicle regulations and obey all driving procedures while in the parking lot.
4.  Students may not drive on or off campus during school hours without written parental permission confirmed by the Principal.
5.  The parking tag must be prominently displayed on the rearview mirror.
6.  Student drivers may only park in designated student parking places.  Seniors will only park in marked spots in the upper lot; juniors may not park in the upper lot, but may park in the lot to the east of the building.
7.  Any registered student driver may drive another student to or from school ONLY with written and verbal permission from the parent/guardian of both the driver and the passenger, as well as approval from the administration in advance. Student drivers and passengers who are in violation will be assigned detention and may lose their driving privilege or place their driving privilege in jeopardy when they become eligible to drive.
8.  Students MAY NOT drive to field trip sites from their home or from school.  All students must ride the bus to and from all field trips.
9.  Any student violating the Student Driving Regulations will lose their privilege to drive in addition to other disciplinary action.

I have read and understand the regulations for student driving listed above.  I agree to abide by these regulations and understand that any violation may result in the suspension or revocation of driving privileges.  I also understand that the violation of these regulations may result in additional disciplinary action.
